Let’s be clear: We’d all like to see more bad fortune for this country after 9/11 at a time when our economy was getting weaker as consumers were putting in more money to pay their mortgage and then losing more because the market (and banks) were jumping on the stimulus that was being proposed by President Bush. But while we’d rather not see a repeat of this, the last thing you’d want in a political situation where the incumbent is in a fight forever because he’s about to embark on the largest wave of default in history.
